Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and Teachnear when you use teachnear.com or the Teachnear teacher panel. By creating an account or using Teachnear, you agree to them, together with our privacy policy.
What Teachnear is
Teachnear is a marketplace that helps people find teachers for any subject or skill, in person or online. Teachers are independent; they aren’t employees or agents of Teachnear. The lesson agreement is between the learner (or parent) and the teacher. We provide the platform, not the lessons.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 to create an account. Parents or guardians create accounts and send requests for children.
- Give accurate information and keep your password safe. You’re responsible for activity on your account.
- One person, one account. Don’t create accounts for someone else without their permission.
Learners and parents
- Sending a lesson request is free. A request isn’t a booking until you and the teacher agree on the details.
- Choose a teacher carefully, especially for children. Meet in safe places, and stay present or nearby for a young child’s first lessons. Profiles are written by teachers; we don’t guarantee their qualifications unless a profile clearly says we verified something.
- Only leave reviews about lessons you actually had.
Teachers
- Keep your profile honest and up to date: who you are, what you teach, your qualifications, prices and availability.
- You’re responsible for your lessons, for any licences, background checks or insurance your work requires where you teach, and for your own taxes.
- Reply to lesson requests within a reasonable time, and use learners’ contact details only to arrange and give lessons.
- Follow the law on working with children and on safeguarding wherever you teach.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post: profile text, photos, reviews and articles. You give Teachnear a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, show, adapt for display, and promote that content on Teachnear and in promotion of your profile, for as long as it’s on Teachnear. Only post content you have the right to post.
Articles are written by teachers and reflect their own views. Teachnear doesn’t edit them, but we may remove any content that breaks these terms.
Rules for everyone
Don’t use Teachnear to:
- harass, threaten, discriminate against or harm anyone, especially children;
- post false, misleading, hateful, sexual or illegal content, or anyone else’s personal data;
- send spam, advertise unrelated services, or contact people for purposes other than lessons;
- copy or scrape Teachnear, break its security, or interfere with how it works.
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend accounts that break these rules, and report illegal activity to the authorities.
Prices and payments
Teachers set their own prices, shown in the currency they choose. Learners pay teachers as agreed between them, unless a lesson is paid online through Teachnear, in which case the price and any fees are shown before you pay. Features for teachers that cost money are described, with their price, before you buy them.
Our responsibility
We work hard to keep Teachnear useful and available, but we provide it “as is”. We aren’t a party to lessons and aren’t responsible for what teachers or learners do, say, or fail to do. To the extent the law allows, Teachnear isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid Teachnear in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be limited.
Closing an account
You can stop using Teachnear and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk; where it’s safe to do so, we’ll tell you why.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as Teachnear grows. If a change matters, we’ll update the date above and tell you in advance by email or on the site. If you keep using Teachnear afterwards, the new terms apply. Questions? Email support@teachnear.com.
